Today we visited the TV tower in Vilnius – they’ve recently opened some parts of it to visitors for the first time.

We learned how it was built in the 80s (some parts of the structure were assembled in place, some parts were made on the ground and lifted up, the architect claimed the tower should stand tall for 300 years), visited the transmission hall, several technical floors in the trunk of the tower, saw the highest server room in this country and went outside at the height of 180m.

There’s a good reason for these helmets:

The bottom of the “mushroom” of the tower – this is the area where people are supposed to hide and wait for rescue in case of fire.
